September 3, 2024, Memblaze, the renowned provider of enterprise PCIe SSD products and solutions, has officially released their PBlaze7 7A40 series PCIe 5.0 enterprise NVMe SSDs, featuring exceptional power efficiency alongside outstanding performance, aimed at further accelerating applications such as AI, databases, cloud computing, and virtualization. Notably, this groundbreaking performance has made it the first of its kind to surpass one million IOPS for 4K random write operations.
PBlaze7 7A40 Series PCIe 5.0 Enterprise NVMe SSD
"Seven years ago, we proudly introduced the PBlaze5 C900 enterprise SSD, marking a milestone as the first SSD to achieve 1 million IOPS in 4K random read performance. Today, we stand once again at the forefront of innovation, setting a fresh performance benchmark by accomplishing one million IOPS for 4K random writes," said Dr. Taile Zhang, CEO of Memblaze. "The PBlaze7 7A40 represents our finest product yet, and we confidently anticipate its exceptional performance will garner widespread recognition in the market, establishing a new standard for high-performance SSD products."
The PBlaze7 7A40, the latest member of the PBlaze product family, is developed based on the Memblaze Unified Framework Platform (MUFP). With deep hardware optimization and self-developed firmware, it delivers 3.3 million IOPS for 4K random reads and 1 million IOPS for 4K random writes, respectively, which is 3x and 2.5x the performance of maintain PCIe 4.0 SSDs. The sequential read and write speeds are 14.2GB/s and 11.3GB/s, leading the enterprise PCIe 5.0 SSD market.
Latency is a crucial metric for SSD response speed. The PBlaze7 7A40 leverages its controller architecture to reduce latency significantly by optimizing the I/O path, streamlining processing flows, and enhancing data layouts. This results in a 4K random read latency as low as 55μs and a random write latency of 5μs. Additionally, with enhanced flow control and intelligent sequential flow prefetch technology, its sequential read latency can also be as low as 6μs, boosting performance under low workloads and providing stronger support for various latency-sensitive business applications.
The PBlaze7 7A40 offers a 110% improvement in 4K random read performance per watt and a 73% increase in 4K random write performance per watt compared to its predecessor products. It consumes 13W for sequential reads and 18W for sequential writes, with an optimized thermal design to minimize thermal impact in dense deployment scenarios.
The PBlaze7 7A40 is available in a 2.5-inch U.2 form factor, with capacity options of 3.84TB, 7.68TB and 15.36TB at 1 DWPD, and 3.2TB, 6.4TB and 12.8TB at 3 DWPD, catering to read-intensive and mixed read-write scenarios. It supports NVMe 2.0 and NVMe-MI 1.2b protocols, providing essential enterprise-grade features such as full-path data protection, power-loss data protection, secure erase and so on.
The PBlaze7 7A40 series SSD is now being shipped to customers for testing and is open for pre-orders. For more information, please contact your local sales representative.
